Soundscape design at its best !
The Université de Montréal Science Complex on the new MIL campus has amazed all with the detail in its architecture, since its inauguration on September 20, 2019. Its uniqueness strengthens Montreal’s status as a centre of knowledge and highly creative city.
Covering an area of 60,000m2, the building is made up of two wings connected by a library. The grand, six-storey , all-glass atrium presented architects with a major acoustical challenge.
Artofix joined the project in 2016 as its acoustic solutions partner to help reduce the reverberation of sound in the atrium. In collaboration with the architectural firm Lemay, Artofix created the shape that is now the unique signature of the building: a juxtaposition of pyramids which pays homage to Montreal’s Mont Royal.
